Skinner Automotive Devices Co. manufactures lubricating oil rectifiers for gasoline engines.
1930
Skinner Motors Inc. reorganization.
1933
Reorganization becomes Skinner Purifiers, Inc.  Manufactures stacked paper washer filters (Microedge® filters), naval steam engine condensate filters, instrument air filters, engine fuel-water separators and filters.
1942
Microbon® paper ribbon filter invented by Walter Kasten.
1947
Bendix Aviation Corporation acquires Skinner Purifiers, Inc.  Manufactures fuel filters  for the Air Force.
1953
Bendix Aviation Corporation consolidated operations in Madison Heights, Michigan to become Bendix-Skinner Division.  Manufactures pleated-paper carburetor filters.
1958
Name changes to Bendix Filter Division.  Poroloy Equipment Company is acquired by Bendix Filter Division and moved from California to Michigan.  Manufactures jet engine and missile filters.
1960
Go-No-Go® jet fuel monitor invented.
1967
Bendix Corporation acquires Fram Corporation.  Acquisition challenged by the Federal Trade Commission.
1975
Bendix Filter Division becomes Filter Products Division of Facet Enterprises, Inc. due to Federal Trade Commission ruling.
1976
Facet Enterprises, Inc. separated from Bendix Corporation.  Facet is a "spin-off" of three Fram Divisions and four Bendix Divisions.  Facet Enterprises appears on NYSE. Corporate headquarters located in Tulsa, OK.
1977
First supplemental Type Certificate Scavenge Oil Filter sold for helicopters.
1983
(December) Decision is made to close the Madison Heights, MI plant and move to Greensboro, NC.
1984
(June) First employees start to relocate to Greensboro; 37 employees make the move. New  plant is located at 8439 Triad Drive. 
(November) Facet acquires line of self- cleaning Metaledge® filters and breathers from 
Purolator in Rahway, NJ
1987
(February)  Facet Enterprises, Inc. purchases Purolator Automotive Filters in Rahway, NJ and Edison, NJ.  All engineering responsibilities are transferred to Tulsa, OK for automotive filters. Manufacturing of automotive filters is done in Fayetteville, NC.   Purolator is considered a brand name filter.
(August) Product transfer of former Purolator Automotive indicators and switches from 
Fayetteville, NC to Greensboro, NC.
1988
Facet Enterprises, Inc. is acquired by Pennzoil Corporation.
1989
Balance of aerospace filters made by Facet/Quantek in Tulsa, OK are transferred from Facet/Quantek to Greensboro plant
1990
(February) Facet Enterprises, Inc. changes its name to Purolator Products Company,  Facet Filter Products Division.   The “wine rack” and red and black logo are retired;  the Purolator blue ribbon and red letters are the known signature of the company
(June) Woods Energy in Tulsa, OK closes transferring the very old Zenith® filter line, and a line of flame arrestors to Facet Filter Products Division in Greensboro.
1991
Facet Filter Products Divisionof Purolator Products Co. acquires the 
G.W. Dahl Company in Bristol, RI   Dahl is a manufacturer of silencing valves and electronic transducers and transmitters.  
1992
Pennzoil spins off Purolator Products Company, now appears on the NASDAQ board
1994
(May)  Marine Flame Arrestor line sold to Barbron in Detroit, MI
(November) Mark IV Industries, Inc. acquires Purolator Products Company for $25 per share.  The company is divided into two groups: Mark IV Automotive and Mark IV Industrial. Facet Filter Products Division reports to the Industrial Group while the Automotive Filters report to Mark IV Automotive.  We become Purolator Products Company, Facet Filter Products Division, part of the Dayco Industrial Business Group of Mark IV Industrial, Mark IV Industries Inc.
1995
Poromet® Cleanable Elements are introduced, and sold through distributor network
Also, the first Poroplus® Sand Control Screens are shipped this year for oil well completion.
1998
Introduction of Purolator Industrial Hydraulic Line and Purolator Marine Filters.
1999
(February) Mark IV sells Purolator Automotive Filters to Arvin Industries, which is now known as Arvin Meritor.  Arvin is a manufacturer of exhaust systems and ride control products for the automotive industry.  Purolator Automotive headquarters in Tulsa, OK closed in the fall. Manufacturing of automotive spin on filters continues in Salt Lake City, UT and Fayetteville, NC. We retain the name Purolator Products Company, Facet Filter Products Division. 
(September) Mark IV sells Purolator Products Company, Facet Filter
Products Division, Purolator Air Filtration, and Facet International to CLARCOR
CLARCOR is the parent company for Baldwin Filters, Hasting Filters, and Clark Filters.  They also own Air Guard Filters, which manufactures HVAC type filters. 
(Fall) Facet Filter Products Division is renamed Purolator Facet, Inc.   CLARCOR is listed on the NYSE (CLC).
2004
(August) CLARCOR Inc. announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the operations of United EFP, a privately-owned manufacturer of woven wire and metallic screening and filtration products for the plastic and polymer fiber industries. 
United EFP operates through two manufacturing facilities in Houston, Texas and Shelby, North Carolina. United EFP will be renamed Purolator EFP and will operate as a member of CLARCOR’s Purolator Advanced Filtration Group, part of CLARCOR’s Industrial/Environmental Filtration segment. 
(September) CLARCOR acquires United Engineered Filtration Products in Houston, TX and Shelby,NC. 
  (October)  CLARCOR, Inc., a global provider of filtration products and services, announces the formation of the Purolator Advanced Filtration Group (PAFG). 
The Purolator Advanced Filtration Group, which is headquartered in Greensboro, NC, is made up of five divisions of CLARCOR: 
  • Filter Products, Inc., Sacramento, CA
  • Total Filter Technology, North Chelmsford, MA
  • Purolator Facet, Inc., Greensboro, NC
  • Facet USA, Tulsa, OK
  • Purolator EFP, Houston, TX and Shelby, NC. 
2005
(March) Niagara Screen Products in St. Catharines Ontario is acquired by CLARCOR and is merged with Purolator EFP from Johnson Screen/Weatherford.
  (November) Filter Products, Inc., Sacramento, CA and Total Filter Technology, Greensboro, NC are combined to form Purolator Liquid Process
  (November ) CLARCOR completes the acquisition of Martin Kurz & Company, Inc. ('MKI'), a privately-owned manufacturer of sintered porous metal laminates used in screening and filtration products for a wide array of industries, including pharmaceutical, petrochemical, aerospace, paper and chemical process industries. MKI is based in Mineola, New York and will operate as a member of CLARCOR's Purolator Advanced Filtration Group within the CLARCOR Industrial/Environmental Filtration segment.
2006
Purolator Advanced Filtration Group is reorganized to include the following companies:
